In the municipalities of Cantón de San Pablo, Lloró and Cértegui, located in the Chocó Biogeographic Zone, the Community Councils ACISANP, COCOILLO and COCOMACER, through the ARLEQUIN REDD+ Project, protect 82.626 hectares of tropical rainforest. The project seeks to minimize the impact of deforestation and forest degradation in their communities by implementing initiatives for the reforestation of degraded ecosystems, strengthening the agricultural-productive sector with local products such as achiote, yucca, Chinese potato, cacao, medicinal plants, primitive, plantain, sacha inchi and the technification of the rice transformation process; the promotion of environmental education and tourism, the implementation of appropriate technologies for cooking and the improvement of infrastructure and equipment for mobility, health, housing and recreation.
