説明

The following is a revised carbon project description: In Myanmar's Northern Ayeyarwady Division, a proposed project aims to restore and protect 2265.47 hectares of degraded land through afforestation, reforestation, and revegetation, as part of the Verified Carbon Standard's (VCS) restoration category. The project area encompasses Magyi, Thabawkan, and Thaegone village tracts, where a healthy mangrove ecosystem will be established. Key Highlights: - The project aims to establish and maintain a sustainable mangrove ecosystem for carbon sequestration, natural disaster risk reduction, and poverty reduction through sustainable livelihoods in the coastal communities. - Biodiversity conservation and the establishment of Myanmar's first mangrove gene bank are vital components of the project. - The project was open for public comment from June 12 to July 12, 2017, and feedback was summarized in the public comment summary (OTHER_1694_11JUL2017). Mangroves are an essential part of Myanmar's coastal ecosystem, providing habitat for a diverse range of marine and terrestrial species, as well as acting as a natural barrier to erosion and storms. The restored mangrove ecosystem will also sequester carbon, contributing to global efforts to combat climate change. Additionally, the project will create sustainable livelihoods for coastal communities, reducing poverty and increasing economic opportunities. The project's emphasis on biodiversity conservation and the establishment of a mangrove gene bank will help to preserve Myanmar's unique natural heritage for future generations.
